Signature Card Account

Every student has a Signature card account.
The Signature card is a retail debit account accessed thru the ID card, accepted at nearly all retail outlets on campus.
Students can load funds into their Signature card account for use at Dining locations, vending machines, the BYU Bookstore, WSC retail operations, copy centers, print stations, ticket offices and computer labs.
A student’s BYU Financial account is in no way connected to the Signature card account. Financial account payments such as tuition or health insurance may NOT be paid by Signature card.

Signature Card Account Privacy

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects a student's privacy interests in educational records. These records include any information directly related to a student and maintained by BYU unless specifically exempted by the act. Signature card account information can only be given to the student unless one of the following exceptions applies:

A parent demonstrates to the Signature Card ID Center that the student is claimed as a dependent for federal tax purposes.
We have received written consent from the student to allow someone else access to their Signature card account information.

Route Y Signature Card Account Tools

Students can check their account balance and recent transactions (up to six months) thru Route Y - the Signature Card and Meal Plans link under the Route Y Miscellaneous drop-down menu.
Student can also purchase most off-campus meal plans, make a Signature card deposit, set up automatic Signature card deposits, declare their card lost (deactivate) or found (reactivate), and request an automatic email notification when their balance gets low.
Students can give parents access to their Route Y Signature Card and Meal Plans webpage – this will NOT give parents access to other Route Y information. Again, only the student can authorize this access. The Signature Card ID Center cannot give information on a student’s account without items 1. or 2. above.

Signature Card Deposit Tool for Family and Friends

Want to wish your student 'Happy Birthday' or 'Good Luck'? Deposit funds to their Signature card account!

Family and friends can deposit money to a Signature card account by using Quick Pay. You must have either the student’s 9 digit BYU ID number or the student’s SSN. Quick Pay will NOT give you access to the students Signature Card and Meal Plan webpage or any other account information.

Meal Plan Transactions

Dining Services meal plans are also accessed thru the ID card.
At Dining locations meal plans are automatically assessed first. If sufficient meal plan funds are not available to satisfy a transaction, the register will automatically cascade to the Signature card account. If the Signature card account does not have sufficient funds to complete the transaction, the remaining balance can be paid with cash, check or credit card.
At non-Dining locations (Bookstore, copy center, etc.) the register will automatically cascade to the Signature card account, bypassing any meal plans.

Purchasing a Meal Plan

Students living off campus may purchase a meal plan online thru Route Y or at the Signature Card ID Center, 2310 WSC, 801-422-3866. Meal plans are contracted thru Dining Services; please be sure to read all meal plan terms and conditions.
If a student is unable to access their Signature Card and Meal Plans webpage thru Route Y, please call 801-422-3866.
Students living on campus should contact the Campus Accommodations office at 801-422-6944 with questions or changes to their meal plan accounts.

The ID card is the property of Brigham Young University and is for internal campus use only. BYU is not liable for any external use or acceptance of the card. Neither the card nor any associated services or privileges are transferrable. The card is not valid unless signed in ink and must be surrendered upon request.
